The Chase County Schools Anatomy and Physiology class hosted a medical simulation with First Life, a company that travels to different areas to give medical scenarios a first responder or an EMT might see, on November 5th, 2024. Students from Chase County, Perkins County, Dundy County, and Wauneta-Palisade were invited to CCS to participate in this event. The students were allowed to practice intubations on a vomiting manikin and were able to practice how to treat respiratory distress emergencies. The students were able to listen to an EMT talk about real-life experiences in the medical field. The students walked away with a lot of knowledge, and a better understanding of what happens in the real world. When asked about the event, Joni Kirwin, the Anatomy and Physiology adviser, stated, “I really liked how the instructor/demonstrator gave them real ways to help in an emergency situation and to help see if medical was the way the students wanted to go for future careers.” Thank you to First Life and all the participants for making this such a great experience!
