FCCLA has been in the spotlight at CCS lately - between a student and advisor being recognized at the state level and hosting the District STAR competition at CCS, they've had a busy start to the year.
FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is a nonprofit, community service based organization that helps students focus on life outside of the school walls. Students can focus in Hospitality & Tourism, Visual Arts & Design, Education & Training, or Human Services. FCCLA is designed to help students develop real life skills through high school, while also giving back to the community they live in. STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) projects are done as students work cooperatively, individually, or competitively with one another.
On January 31st, 35 students from 7 schools competed for a chance to move on to State in Lincoln. All CCS students qualified for State in April, and our Chapter President (Tristen Stumpff) earned a gold medal in her event. We're so proud of what our team is accomplishing and can't wait to see what they do at State!
We also had a student and advisor recognized by Nebraska FCCLA in January.
"She is told to be an outstanding organizer and is always willing to lend a hand for her students. Even through her first year in 2022 she made the best out of it and was more than capable of stepping up to the task again this year.
'I just love how she is ahead of the game and prepared, not many teachers/advisors are like that!' 'She is the most loving person'"
“Esme is our chapter treasurer but she contributes so much more than that to our chapter, school, and community. She attends all of our chapter events with a spirit of enthusiasm and work ethic. In addition, without being asked, she recognizes things that our chapter needs and goes above and beyond to prepare them. For example, flyers for our fundraisers and maintaining, printing, and posting a weekly agenda for our meetings. She consistently asks what responsibilities she can take from our chapter adviser so that our adviser will not have as much work to do. For example, she is planning the entire Daddy Daughter Dance that we put on in the spring. She demonstrates everything that FCCLA stands for in terms of commitment to family and community, and skills for career and leadership.”
